In a few words

This authentic corner of Provence, between Arles, Avignon and Aix, is home to the Alpilles Regional Park. Tucked away in the middle of this park is the unspoiled little village of Eygalières. On the edge of this village, where the garrigue begins, you will find the Bastide of Eygalières. A warm welcome, comfort and tranquillity awaits.


Built in 1992, on land scattered with green oak and pine trees, from the very beginning the Bastide has been a warm and welcoming hotel. Made using old materials that are marked by the patina of time, it has the allure of a bastide of long ago.

Ornamented with regional plants, the garden is enveloped by the garrigue of the Alpilles. In 2003, Leen and Françoise Luiten fell for the charm of this little piece of paradise. They took on the hotel and opened a restaurant to better meets the needs of their guests. Crafting a new ‘modern rustic’ atmosphere, they preserve local tradition while providing all the benefits of contemporary comfort. Having always been in the hotel trade, they slowly made room for their youngest daughter, Dreece, who took over the restaurant, the Lézard Gourmand, in 2016.

We embrace it!

We have been using organic ingredients in the kitchens at the Bastide restaurant since it opened in 2003. We haven taken great care to expand the range of organic, local products from year to year, and since 2013 a large proportion of our menu has been Ecocert certified. The hotel is committed to the European Charter for Sustainable Tourism and has been awarded the ‘Quality Tourism’ label.

Our establishment is among the tourist service providers that are committed to sustainable tourism and protecting the Alpilles, so you can discover what this area has to offer while protecting it too. We are proud of obtaining the ‘Alpilles Regional Park Value’ title, as well as the international ‘Green Key’ label, recognition of our hard work to meet the demanding environmental, social and economical specifications.

You will notice lots of little details at the Bastide that reflect our efforts to protect the environment, like the way we manage waste, water and power as well as our use of organic ingredients for our dishes. We can also help you discover outdoor activities to enjoy in the region.
